Lusaka, Tuesday 5thJanuary 2010. The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested a fourth year student at the University of Zambia for trafficking in 129 sachets of pure grade cocaine. Theresa Luhila, 26, a development studies scholar, was arrested from Lusaka’s down town shopping mall when she attempted to sale the narcotics to some people. Ms. Luhila was arrested together with two members of one family who have been identified as Orient Chikaina, 44, and Harriet Chikaina, 37, a chef at one of the restaurants at Unza. The trio is detained in Police custody and will appear in court soon. The Commission would like to appeal to females especially those in higher institutions of learning not to fall into the trap of drug trafficking and drug abuse as it will ruin their lives. Meanwhile 52 people were arrested countrywide in the last six days for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis with a total weight of 39 kilograms. Among those arrested include a juvenile of Mansa district in Luapula province who was found with balls of cannabis weighing 65 grams.
