The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) was established in 1989 under the Statutory Instrument No. 87 1989 to specifically deal with issues relating to drug trafficking and abuse. The Commission became operational in 1990. The Commission was further strengthened by Parliament's enactment of Act 14 of 2001 which deals with the prevention and prohibition of Money Laundering.
