What began as a remote problem for the People’s Republic of China has become a worldwide pandemic that has caused changes in the way people lead their lives. The Corona Virus that causes the disease COVID-19 has changed the socio-economic landscape for families, communities, nations and the entire globe.
The mode of transmission of the virus makes it necessary for precautions to be instituted to curtail its spread and these include face masking in public, social distancing and regular washing or sanitizing of hands.
In some places, total and partial lockdowns have been employed to contain the pandemic which has, unfortunately, claimed thousands upon thousands of human lives, worldwide. Businesses have either closed or scaled down their operations while service institutions remained operational as they were deemed to be essential to human welfare.
Operating under the new conditions as dictated by the pandemic is a challenge but the set guidelines are a necessary evil. In keeping with the guidelines, the Drug Enforcement Commission has put up several measures including wash basins, sanitizers and masks for officers and clients to use.
As far as possible, social distance has been observed in the Commission by instituting a work rota that allows crowded offices to get relief. For officers in the anti-drug operations, gloves have also been provided for use when conducting searches for illicit drugs.
